Dog lovers are in for a treat this spooky season as Dogs Trust Ballymena prepares to welcome visitors for a special Howl-oween Experience Day on Saturday 25 October, offering a behind-the-scenes glimpse into life at the rehoming centre.
Running from 10am to 12pm, the event gives guests a rare opportunity to see how the Ballymena team and its volunteer foster carers look after the 70-plus dogs currently in their care.
Free tickets are available to book via Eventbrite, with spaces expected to fill quickly for what promises to be a spook-tacular morning.
Visitors can look forward to meeting some of the dogs searching for their forever homes, chatting with staff over a cuppa, and getting hands-on by helping to create enrichment activities designed to keep the dogs calm and happy during the often-stressful firework season.
Kirsty Mark, Supporter Relations Officer at Dogs Trust Ballymena, said:
“We’re so excited to open our doors and invite dog lovers to experience life inside our centre this Halloween.
“Attendees can enjoy a guided tour, meet our dedicated team, and of course, spend time with the boo-tiful dogs currently in our care. Visitors will also be able to lend a hand in creating fun enrichment activities to help our dogs during firework season.
“We promise a fur-ightfully fun morning that will lift your spirits — and you might even fall under the spell of one of our adorable residents!”
The Ballymena centre features 50 kennels, a training barn, woodland walks, and a large exercise field — all designed to provide a safe and stimulating environment for dogs as they await their forever homes.
Dogs Trust Ballymena is open to the public five days a week, welcoming visitors who wish to meet adoptable dogs, seek advice, or start the rehoming process. While the team hopes to introduce as many dogs as possible during the Howl-oween event, some may not be available to meet on the day due to medical care, training, or reservation.
